sleep free, gluten free and set free

Maybe this should be my new motto (or my fist tattoo...kidding). So, here's a news flash: I went to the grocery store for the first time in months tonight. I could win an award for the Proverbs 31 woman. Well, my Lyme doctor wants me on a very strict diet (basically just foods from the ground and all organic). So, I made the trip to Whole Foods. I felt more comfortable walking into the Bodegona (grocery store in Guatemala) and they had meat hanging from the ceilings. Eating healthy is something I don't understand but is something being forced on me for good reason. Tonight, I've been in a ton of pain which was a reminder to get back on the inflammation diet. Seriously, I had 4 workers ask me if I was okay and that I looked confused. Um, yes I'm confused! I have to find gluten free, corn free, sugar free, egg free, casein free and red meat free. Just writing that sentence makes me want to cry. So, you know how to pray. I did get bonus points (in my own mind) for using a reusable bag to carry my groceries in. Read the book "7" by Jen Hatmaker and you'll do it too.

P.S. I thought I was going to have a celebration post because E fell asleep in the car tonight at 8:30, but guess what?!! She's woke up at 10:30 ready to go. Lord, have mercy on our souls.

Hey there! I loved reading your blog. Your devotion and love for Eliana is inspiring and the most incredible act of God's love! Though I know the struggles of raising a child with special needs your family's struggle with sleep is so difficult.
You are an AMAZING mother and are doing everything you should be and could be doing for that sweet baby girl of yours! Eliana has been truly blessed to be a Wheeler!
Give Eliana hugs from "Ms. Becca" and hugs to you too! Please if you every need someone to vent or talk with I am a good listener!
By the way did you have a chance to read the email I sent you?
Lots of love,
Becca

I hope they gave you some sort of guide like where to find foods on that strict of a diet, or some ideas of what you could eat. I have lots of memories of La Bodegona.

Hi! I've been following your story since before you brought Eliana home. My four-year old is Eliana too. =) Anyway, My doctor just put me on a very similar diet and I TOTALLY understand how you feel. It's so overwhelming at first. But I've been doing it for two weeks now - not perfectly - but it is doable (though annoying - so hard to find both gluten AND corn AND sugar AND dairy AND soy-free foods because when if it's without one of those things, it's usually subbed with one of the others I can't have). We've been eating lots of green veggies, sweet potatoes, chicken, and salmon around here...

Anyway, good luck and if you want to trade recipes or anything like that, let me know!

I've found the Whole Life Nutrition blog to be helpful (http://www.nourishingmeals.com/) and they also have a cookbook (Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook on amazon) that has some great recipes.
